Sochi Olympic “Nightmare Bear” mascot is sad, and he should be sad

Team Russia was eliminated from men’s hockey competition today at the Sochi Winter Olympics, following a 3-1 loss to Finland.

The entire nation is likely taking the defeat hard, but, as you can see, one individual was really, really broken up about it.NightmareBearSad

The polar bear mascot of the games, dubbed the “Nightmare Bear” by creative internet minds, can be seen in this photo taken about an hour after the game. It is a dark time for Russia, indeed.

“Nightmare Bear” is no stranger to the spotlight, as he was creepily seen on NBC’s “Today” show on Monday. Al Roker is probably still traumatized.

With the loss, the Russian hockey team will fail to medal at a Winter Olympics for a third-straight time. The team’s last medal was a bronze in 2002.
