‘I Wonder Where They Are Now’ Wednesday – Wikipedia

I decided to take this week’s ‘I Wonder Where They Are Now’ segment in a different direction.

Today, many web sites are protesting potential legislation that folks in the digital realm feel will end the open Internet. According to opponents, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is basically Internet censorship and will cripple the World Wide Web.

So, where does ‘I Wonder Where They Are Now’ fit in?

If you head over to Wikipedia today and try to do a simple search, you’ll notice that your results will not appear. Instead, you’ll be directed to a page detailing why Wikipedia is shut down today. That’s right – Wikipedia is not available for a whole day.

College students with reasearch paper deadlines approaching and chronic time-wasters everywhere will have to find other means of keeping themselves busy.

But it’s good to know and understand why Wikipedia has disappeared for these 24 hours.
